Collaborating With Other Communities & Organisations

The THS Community collaborates with others to extend its learning environment outwards and welcome learners and learning partners inwards.

As part of the THS Community Supported Self-Driven Learning Framework

How can I collaborate with the THS Community?

A key part of the THS Community Supported Self-Driven Learning Framework is a focus on;

The "4Cs"...

Collaboration

Communication

Creativity

Critical Reflection

& the Learning Dispositions ...

("Thinking Structures")

Think Why & How

Make & Express Meaning

Build New Ideas

Influence

Empathy

Teamwork

Focus

Grit

Curiosity

Step 1

If you have something that needs to be done, and you believe that it could be done by students, and that the students would benefit (learn) from the experience then the first steps are to:

Check if it fits the 4Cs framework, and if so

Map your needs to the key learning components (above).

We encourage you to work with any THS students already in your organisation to do the filtering and mapping - or we can help find a student to work with you.

For Example...

Kissing Point Football Club: Help to promote the Club

The proposed activity is: creating short videos about the Club to post on Facebook etc

Filtering; Does this activity work with the 4Cs?

Collaboration

Work with a team of other students and the KPFC committee

Communication

The film is a form of communication, there is also communication between team members

Creativity

The form of the film and its structure are open, so that students can be creative in their approach to communicating the message

Critical Reflection

Self-reflection on effort and achievements and what has been learnt using THS Community Journal. Also group reflection on what worked and how successfully the film itself communicated the message

In this example, the activity aligns with the 4Cs so now...

How does it map to each of the learning dispositions?

Think Why & How

The open nature of the project will mean the student has to ask questions.

Make & Express Meaning

The student will need to work with all the stakeholders in the club and interpret what they are saying to determine meaning and thus the story of the film.

Build New Ideas

The desire to produce a variety of short films for different sectors of the Club will mean the students need to explore possibilities and see things from different perspectives.

Influence

The producer of the film (the students) will manage the whole process. If they are not pro-active, there will be no outcome (ie no film).

Empathy

As part of understanding the different perspectives within the Club.

Teamwork

Film making requires many skills, and those involved need to work together to produce a result.

Focus

The students are the producers; they need to manage themselves and control the creative process.

Grit

Managing all the different club perspectives and creating content will require resilience.

Curiosity

It takes effort and passion to produce a film.
