Working on site @ THS

Your obligations for the safety of the THS community and yourself when making changes to the THS environment.

Before you visit the THS community (site)

[A] If you are doing CONSTRUCTION work...

Contract check document to be completed and signed, which covers your commitment to have;

Public Liability Insurance (minimum value $20m) 

Workers Compensation / Personal Accident Insurance (for single trade, no employees) 

Long service levy (construction projects over $25,000 inclusive of GST, does not apply to landscaping) 

Hold the appropriate license to carry out the works.

Comply with the relevant Australian Standards for works undertaken. 

For "high risk construction work" complete Safe Work Methods statements.  See Safety Observations below for more details.

[B] If you are doing MAINTENANCE work...

Workers Compensation / Personal Accident Insurance (for single trade, no employees) 

Hold the appropriate license to carry out the works.

Comply with the relevant Australian Standards for works undertaken. 

Visiting the THS site

On your arrival to the THS site you need to visit the site reception ("Site Sign In" on the map below) and sign in.

As the site is an Education NSW (DEC) managed site there are processes that relate to community safety (child protection) and also asset protection that we/you must adhere too.

! Contractors are not to interact with children (students) and students are not interact with contractors.  If you have an issue with a student you must report it to the Principal.


100 Points & Declaration

If it is your first time working in site at THS you need to complete the site induction, including 100 points ID Check and child protection declaration ("appendix 5")


Education NSW (DEC) Database Check

The school admin staff also have to check your name and date of birth against a Education NSW (DEC) database of people which have been barred from DEC facilities.  To make your site induction quicker, the admin staff will use the information provided when you complete the online child safety declaration prior to your visit you an be pre-checked.  If you have any questions please email turramurra-h.admin@det.nsw.edu.au.

As part of your site induction will be made aware of emergency procedures, contact numbers, access to site and occupational health and safety requirements.

100 Point ID check documents you can use

The easiest way to get 100 point check is Passport (or birth certificate) [70 points], and Driver's Licence [40 points], as that's 110 points.

Other common option is Driver's Licence [40 points] , 2 x Credit/Debit Card [25 points for each different bank/organisation] and/or Medicare Card/Private Health Care Card [25 points], as that's 115 points.

Emergency Evacuation

For your safety, make sure you know the location of your nearest exit.

When at the emergency assembly area please ensure you name is marked off against the Visitor sign-in book

Safety Observations

Periodically project construction sites will be observed for workplace safety.

Observations are conducted using this checklist (PDF).
