THS Community Canteen

Food is a focal point for a community to gather, eat & have a laugh.

We are very proud of our canteen

We are a modern, self-service canteen dedicated to providing a varied selection of fresh, high quality, nutritional food to our students and staff.

We endeavour to satisfy our 1200+ student body with a large choice of meals at affordable prices. Our range includes vegetarian and gluten free (GF) options every day.

The input of the student body is essential to the running of our canteen.

Led by the Student Canteen Management Team, student volunteers assist with food preparation each morning, and our cash registers are staffed by students at recess and lunch, every day of the week. Student leadership is also critical as our canteen continues to improve and grow, with students having direct input into our always evolving menu and the overall direction and management of our canteen.

How we work together

THS P&C Canteen Collaboration (1).pdf

We strongly encourage all students to use Munch Monitor's Online Ordering and Cashless Card System for canteen purchases. It’s as simple as setting up a Munch Monitor account to allow online ordering, and then linking your student card if you'd like to use your Munch Monitor account to make purchases at the canteen as well. The Munch Monitor cashless payment system has the following benefits:

Service is much faster, significantly reducing queueing times at both recess and lunch

The elimination of cash means it is more secure for staff and students

Daily payment limits allow you to help your child manage their spending

You are able to view what your child is ordering, allowing you to engage them in discussions about the food choices they are making

Financial Sustainability

While as a community organisation our focus is on the wellbeing of our community rather than commercial outcomes such as profit, being effective, efficient and financially sustainable is a critical part of achieving these our community goals - the more resources we have, the more we can do in terms of providing more high quality food options, and can we can provide more educational opportunities for students within the canteen.

Where the canteen does generate a surplus, all funds are channeled back into the school community via the Student Council and P&C to help support the education and development of all our children, so by helping the canteen, you are helping the whole school!

Supporting THS Community Events

Canteen Support Group (CSG)

(P&C Sub-committee supporting the students of the THS community)

The canteen support group (CSG) is an oversight committee that sets policy in conjunction with the student-lead canteen management team (SCMT) and the P&C manager responsible for the management of the canteen.

The CSG is made up of five(5) P&C members, two Student Leadership Group students, and by default the P&C President (or rep.) and the Principal (or rep.) .

There are two roles that need to be filled by the P&C members, which are the coordinator (convenor) & minute-taker.

The CSG meets once a term for an hour.

The general manager provides a report of what has been achieved, what is planned next and any issues, the students report on their activities in a similar format.

The roles are filled at the AGM or through out the year if required.

CSG Operating Rules

If you have experience in food services or just willing and able we'd love to have you join the CSG - just email to canteencoordinator@ths.community.
